Of Jamal Malik from the film”Slumdog millionaire”

In the movie we meet the main character Jamal Malik. Through the film he is portrayed as a child, an early teenager, and as an 18 year old boy. Jamal grew up in the slums with his brother Salim and his mother that we know of. Early in the film their mother is killed, and Jamal and Salim are left by themselves. With no place to live, they take shelter in a little shed. Throughout the film, the story deal with how it is to be a Slumdog living alone on the street, and what challenges Jamal and Salim have to go through to survive. Jamal is from the beginning seen as a very strong character. Salim and Jamal always find a way to make money and get food to live through. When he participates at the game show: “Who wants to become a millionaire?”, it turns out that he knows all the answers, even though he is almost uneducated. The police and the game show host think he is cheating, but he actually knows the answers based on what he has seen through his life. Jamal is shown as a pure-hearted boy, who always tells the truth, and dies his best to save the love of his life, Latika. I would say that this is a round character, because even though he is shown as a strong boy from the beginning of the film, he later learns who to stand up to his own brother, for what is right. He always fight for what he wants, and after a while, that pays off.
